The Caring Community Clinic is hosting an open house Friday, April 22, 2016, from 1 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. The clinic has moved to Suite M, 200 Doctors Drive, off Western Boulevard.
The new location provides additional exam rooms and triage space needed because of a 370% increase in patient population during 2015.
Established in 1999, the clinic is the medical home for over 1,200 county residents. “The Caring Community Clinic is a vital component of our health network. Patients are uninsured or unable to afford expensive private insurance deductibles. Through the clinic, medically vulnerable persons are able to maintain a continuum of care to manage chronic diseases and to receive treatment for sub-acute illnesses." said Theo McClammy, executive director of Onslow Community Outreach.
The public is invited to tour the new space and meet current staff and medical volunteers who have contributed to the exciting growth of the community’s only free clinic. A ribbon cutting ceremony involving officials from Onslow Community Outreach, Onslow Memorial Hospital and the Jacksonville-Onslow Chamber of Commerce will take place at 2:30 p.m.
The chamber’s 2016 Leadership Class helped the clinic move into its new space by painting and acquiring furniture and supplies from local businesses.
