Onslow Outreach expanding thanks to donation from dentist

Story by WITN: A generous donation by a local dentist and his wife will allow a local non profit organization to expand services to those in need.

Dr. and Mrs. Kenneth Morgan of Jacksonville donated a 3,500 square foot building at One Dewitt Street to the Onslow Community Outreach to advance medical care options.

The Onslow Community Outreach is a non profit organization that provides a soup kitchen, homeless shelter and free clinic.

At their 27th annual meeting Thursday night, the outreach group announced that the building donation will help further their mission.

It will soon be home to a new medical facility. Currently, the non profit is only able to service basic medical care for those in need, but this building donation will bring about more smiles.

Don Herring, Chairman of Onslow Community Outreach says, "The expansion of dental, dental support, emergency dental care for patients in need will be a great benefit for this community."

In addition to the new medical care efforts, Onslow Community Outreach says they are looking to expand their service center where they will be house administrative offices, the soup kitchen and homeless shelter. The goal for 2017 is to raise over $700,000 to do foundation improvements to their building on Hargett Street. While they are applying for grants, they are still relying on small gifts from the community.
