The Homeless Shelter is a temporary, emergency housing program. It operates seven days a week from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m. Sunday – Thursday and 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 a.m. Friday and Saturday. Location is at 1210 Hargett Street, Jacksonville NC 28546

In 2017, the program assisted 300 homeless persons, including 35% families and veterans. The shelter strives to meet the basic and immediate needs of individuals who are in housing crisis. Services include shelter, food, clothing, and counseling. Clients must commit to self- improvement activities. The following is required of prospective residents:
- Present two forms of identification
- Remain drug/alcohol free
- Maintain or seek employment if capable
- No violent criminal background
- Not a registered sex offender
Donations of meals on the weekend, breakfast foods, such as protein bars, socks, paper products and cleaning supplies are always needed. Cash donations can be designated for the Homeless Shelter. Onslow Community Outreach is a 501c3 nonprofit. Contributions are tax deductible to the extent allowable by law.
